The one good thing that happened in 2020 was the release of Lucifer’s fifth season, but the excitement soon faded away from fan’s faces as the season was only partially released. Part 1 with eight episodes was released and now fans are eagerly looking for Lucifer Season 5 part 2 release date to get announced.
Lucifer fifth season was highly awaited because of how the fourth season ended, with Lucifer’s descend to heaven, everyone grew confused as to how the story will progress now that Lucifer is back in hell and cannot come back because of hell needing a ruler.
But the season five shocked everyone with Lucifer’s twin brother “Michael” who has come to Earth and is impersonating Lucifer and toying with his friends. Lucifer now has a reason to come back, and finally he does.
According to Tom Ellis on Twitter, almost 95% shooting for the fifth season was completed when COVID struck and the shooting finally came to halt and they were never able to completely shoot the fifth season.
Most studios would wait for the shoot to complete and delay the series altogether, but Netflix had other plans. Seeing how the year 2020 was going and fans needed something pick them up, Netflix finally decided to release Netflix fifth season in two parts.
Part 1 of the fifth season premiered on August 21, 2020 and a total of eight episodes were aired. As soon as the first part hit the Internet, it became the no. 1 trending on Netflix all over the world and fans were quick to binge watch the whole series.
Soon the eight episodes came to an end and now fans are eagerly waiting for the Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 release date to get announced. Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Release Date
The release date for part 2 has finally been announced. All the episodes will be aired on May 28 on Netflix for fans to watch.

Season 5 Part 1 premiered on Netflix on 21st August 2020 and it was a hit after minutes of its getting released. According to the actor for our mystery Lucifer character “Tom Ellis”, almost 95% of the shooting was completed before it was shut down because of growing COVID threat.
So by this statement we can assume that only the last episode of part 2 remains to be filmed and after that all it remains is editing and final touch. So it would mean the part 2 might get released pretty soon right? Well, yes and no!
Lucifer was initially produced by Fox, due to bad ratings Fox decided to cancel it after three seasons which then a month after got picked up by Netflix. According to fans and the cast of the series, it was the best thing to have ever happen to the Lucifer Tv series.
Netflix removed all the restraints posed on the producers and the way the story was being produced changed and with the fourth season released by Netflix, the ratings increased and fans loved and appreciated the raw and unfiltered side of the new Lucifer.
Netflix has been consistent since then and once again Season 5 was successful in winning hearts. The production for the part of Lucifer Season 5 will resume on September 24th 2020 and we expect it to take only 2-3 weeks in the shooting process.
So the shooting process will most likely be over by October 2020, and then let’s take 1-2 months for the editing and remaining formalities. So the full part 2 will be ready by December 2020, so will Netflix air it in January 2021?
According to experts online, the Netflix Season 5 Part 2 will most likely air in March 2021. We expect the trailer for the 1st episode of part 2 to air in January 2021 and then the remaining eight episodes to air in Spring 2021 i.e March 2021.
What About Lucifer Season 6?
Yeah, you heard it right! Season 5 was supposed to be the last for the Lucifer series and it was agreed upon by the cast as well as the production team. But once they got in a room and some ideas got tossed around, they found a new story, something they couldn’t dream not producing and thus the talks about a Season 6 began.
Soon enough the sixth season was confirmed and everyone present there agreed that it should be the last season. A season with the perfect ending.
The news of Tom Ellis putting his signature to the papers for the sixth season finally surfaced and it seems like the 6th season will be a reality very soon.
According to the cast, the Season 5 was supposed to conclude in August and the production for the sixth season was supposed to start in September 2020.
Unfortunately the fate had other plans and since the shooting for the fifth season got delayed, the sixth season will be arriving next year, maybe late 2021.
Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Plot And Spoilers
The 8th episode of the first part ended with father of Lucifer, Amenadiel, and Michael finally descenting to Earth to stop the fight between his three children.
Dennis Haysbert as “God” will be a important part of the upcoming part 2. A fight between God and his sons will be the major part of the upcoming second part of the season 5 and I am sure that the producers and cast will do it justice.
The first episode of part 2 or the ninth episode of the overall fifth season is titled “Family Dinner”. Now that God has finally descended to Earth to meet his favorite children, a family reunion aka family dinner will soon commence to sort out all their ongoing family issues.
When I say God’s favorite children, Michael and Amenadiel come to mind. But does that mean Lucifer also, I think most probably not. God will ask Lucifer to return to hell but Lucifer already did it once to save Chloe and humanity and don’t want it as the permanent option.
So a disagreement will occur and will thus start God Vs Lucifer. The last episode of part 2 is titled “A Chance At A Happy Ending” and will showcase the final fight with dad as stated on the IMDB page.
