Genshin Impact Game launched on 28th September 2020 and owing to the global conditions, it rose to high popularity for its anime-based open-world style. It is developed and published by miHoYo (now called Hoyoverse), which already had experience in this type of gameplay from its previous games.

There are probably very few people in the world who don’t know about the game, Genshin Impact. It has successfully launched its market in the anime and game genres, accumulating millions of fans on a global level.

The game has improved in its cutscenes, trailers, previews, and character teasers so much since its launch days. Its progress in the animation field had sparked rumors for a Genshin Impact anime.

Genshin Impact is very serious in its anime adaptation as its proof can be seen in its recent works. As of now, Version 3.4 is going on in the game and also the Lantern Rite Festival is happening which is an annual festival for veteran players.

Genshin Impact: About The Game

Genshin Impact is an open-world action gacha RPG game. The open-world game allows players to experience a wide variety of terrain and areas, rather than moving around the same place and completing quests.

Based in the world of Tevyat, Genshin Impact has so much to offer in its game – lore, adventure, character interactions, quests, challenges and there’s even more. It’s continuously developing and adds time-limited gameplays that players can enjoy to add a diverse effect to an action game.

The Tevyat region is divided into 7 regions – Monstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya. It also offers underground exploration. There is also another region called Khaenri’ah whose location isn’t known but serves as an important part of the story.

The game follows the story of a pair of twin siblings, Lumine and Aether who traverse through different worlds. However, when leaving Tevyat, they are attacked and get separated.

The journey goes on as the player selects one twin to play with to embark on the journey to uncover the truth of the world along with reuniting with their sibling, of course, accompanied by the best mascot, Paimon.

Genshin Impact Anime Announcement

Genshin Impact has anime-style graphics and the in-game cutscenes may even pass as some great anime scenes, hence it was no wonder that players, or anime fans in general, wanted an anime adaptation of the game.

The major surprise of the Genshin Impact Anime announcement was made during the 3.1 live streams held on September 16, 2022. There were no major leaks about this news so it had caught everyone off-guard.

The live stream was hosted by the CEO of HoYoverse, Dawei, and the Head of Marketing (Mainland China), Michael.

Apparently, the CEO has been known always to present himself when there have been some major updates in-game, following past trends, however this time he came forward to confirm the release of Genshin Impact anime.

Words from Michael – “We will maintain our commitment to producing quality content for Genshin Impact and work hard on the production of the project.”

The Genshin Impact game creator, Liu Wei also revealed the concept art for the anime by releasing a trailer. The studio responsible for its anime adaptation is Ufotable and surely, the art in the trailer lives up to its name and has hyped its fans even more.

Ufotable has an amazing history showcasing amazing visuals and complex scenes. Its most popular works are Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks and Demon Slayer which it has portrayed action scenes in a totally different light. Fans also have great expectations for their new work to be a success.

Genshin Impact Anime Release Date

The announcement about Genshin Impact anime was made just before its second anniversary. With the graphics and storyboarding of the trailer, it seems like the project is just in its initial phase.

Since the trailer only has the scenic side of Tevyat, Ufotable seems to give special attention to the world-building and make sure that the animation is top-notch.

Since it was a concept trailer, it can be assumed that work has already started but may take almost 2 years from its announcement for the final result.

On November 2, 2022, Ufotable Twitter account took to surprise its fans by creating separate accounts in Japanese, Korean, English, and Mandarin Chinese. This gave the fans enough assurance that the work is going on well.

oh, you play genshin impact? so you like K-pop, anime, or both?

— sa m(泳よそ) (@cozyzhongli) January 21, 2023

The aim of separate language accounts is to cater to the audience and share more information about the Genshin Impact anime as time gradually passes by.

Again on January 15, 2023, Ufotable tweeted the PV of Genshin Impact anime on their account hinting more information to be disclosed soon in the other accounts as well. This new year’s surprise has kept the fans updated that Ufotable is working on the project.

Usually, an anime adaptation takes almost 2 years at most from its PV release and thus it can be expected that Genshin Impact anime will be released in 2024.

Genshin’s 3rd Anniversary is on September 28, 2023, and more news about the Genshin Impact is about to be released soon. The production may be keeping the news under wraps to surprise fans on a special occasion.

Genshin Impact Anime: Trailer Breakdown

The trailer starts with a scene of the sky through the clouds as two stars move across. This can be expected to be the travelers when they first came into the world. As the in-game information provides that they entered Tevyat in the form of stars.

The next scene then moves to a deeply forested area with tall trees and Paimon appearing ahead of us. Since she’s our guide for the journey, it’s only correct that she leads the way out of this forest.

The scenes which follow are the grasslands, rough green surface areas, and slightly forested areas with wildlife and showcase the beauty of the natural surroundings in Tevyat, especially in Monstadt. It especially shows the large oak tree located in Windrise and the Anemo Crystalflies.

For scenic details, one scene shows an object which is circular in shape. This object has also been seen in-game in Monstadt and is related to the God of Time, Istaroth. Although the specific location for this place has still not been found in-game.

The soundtrack used in the trailer is called Dream Aria from Genshin Impact OST Album “The Wind and The Star Traveller” by Yu-Peng Chen. This soundtrack also plays on the loading screen of Genshin Impact when a player logs in.

For a better understanding of the world, some drone videography scenes of the landforms, waterfall, huge trees, and peak of Dragonspine mountain have been shown. This gives the viewers an idea of the different regions that come together in a nation.

Lastly, one of the Statue of Seven of Anemo Archon, Barbatos is shown which helps to connect that the place is in Monstadt. Each Archon has a defined region and thus this region falls under Monstadt. However, the place where the Statue is located doesn’t correspond to any place in the game.

Concluding the trailer by showing both the siblings, Lumine and Aether holding hands in the world of Tevyat is almost a dream come true for most players. The siblings stand still while the view moves around them.

There are also several things to note in the last scene of the trailer. To start, Dragonspine mountain can be seen on the right side while a few ruins are scattered around the grasslands.

Some floating islands can be seen on the left side but there has been no mention or sight of any such landform in the game till now. There have been only two things known to float in the air in Genshin Impact – Celestia and Jade Chamber of Ningguang.

Genshin Impact Anime: What To Expect?

Genshin Impact as a game has a lot to offer in terms of story. The destruction of Khaenri’ah, Archon War, the daily life of NPCs before the arrival of Traveller or just a more in-depth story about the travel.

In terms of lore or story, very little has been known about Monstadt. Although this was the first nation given to players, there are still many characters whom we haven’t met and areas that only came up in conversations.

The places shown in the trailer do not match with any location of Monstadt as of Version 3.4 of the Genshin Impact game. This really gives hope to the audience to know more about the other regions of Monstadt, through games and anime.

The siblings are never shown together and are basically enemies due to their different mindsets. However, they’re holding hands in the trailer, so it is really hard to conclude what plot they’re about to come up with.

Although there’s no concrete information, a few Reddit leaks have been found. The anime is expected to serve as a prequel and show the Khaenri’ah period. This also comes in line with all the visuals which was shown in the trailer.

Genshin Impact is a story that is heavily based on lore and takes utmost care to add minute details that can only be noticeable if given time. Hence we can expect more leaks to come out soon as time advances.

More details will be updated about the anime as information is released. Stay tuned to know more facts about the Genshin Impact anime and also read our article on Solo Leveling Anime while you wait.
