Having honed her physical capabilities, her combat abilities overpower kaiju no 15. She launches her axe at it exposing the core.

Kaiju No 8 Chapter 80 recap
The chapter continues the fight between kaiju no 15 and Kikoru. Kikoru can see the ghost of her mother’s ghost.
Struggling to keep up, Kikoru is pushed to the edge To everyone’s surprise she successfully mimics the ghost of their mother and a glimmer of hope is seen in this one-sided fight.
With a 94 percent release of her suit, she surpasses her mother and her fighting caliber shoots up. Taking her stance she hacks kaiju no 15 into pieces.
As Kikoru is about to destroy 15’s core it gives a sinister smile and all of a sudden Kikoru is stabbed through her chest.
15 traps Kikoru in a psychogenic attack getting her to decrease her neuro sync with her suit.
The Kaiju becomes aware of Kikoru’s insecurities. It asks her why she continues to fight, and each time Kikoru answers virtuously she is exclaimed to be a liar.
Kikoru is shown as a child crying over wanting praise from her parents. Kaiju no. 15 menacingly shadows Kikoru whispering to her to give up. She will never be able to get their praise as they are dead.
Will Kikoru be able to maintain her mental fortitude or give up to 15’s brainwashing? The fight between Kikoru and 15 has taken an interesting turn of events, and a new side to Kikoru is revealed.
Spoilers and speculations:
The raws of kaiju no 8 won’t be available due to the simultaneous release of the English and Japanese release. But its fans are still coming up with theories and speculations for the upcoming chapters.
Advancing deeper into Kikoru’s character arc, the fans are excited that the story is finally going somewhere. Many complained that this fight was drawn are more than it needed to mostly classic anime fight troupes were at play. But the 2nd half of the latest chapter was the strongest part of this arc, according to the popular sentiment that is.
By now the fight is progressing it is abiding by most of the shonen fight tropes and with this being her “come back” fight, it is likely that Kikoru will win against 15 without interference from Kafka.

Kaiju No 9 has likely set up each of them to fight with Kaiju keeping in mind their weaknesses. They all will likely lose or be left severely injured from their fight just for the Kaiju to be called back by Kaiju No 9.
Kafka or Kaiju No 8 is still nowhere to be seen.
After Kikoru’s win against Kaiju No 15, Kaiju No 9 will probably show up to put down Kikoru. At that moment Kafka is likely to show up and the fans might get a Kaiju No 9 vs Kafka and Kikoru fight.
