When can we expect Ao Ashi Season 2?

Ao Ashi aired from April 2022 to September 2022. There hasn’t been an official announcement regarding the production of a second season. But it might be too soon to conclude that there won’t be a sequel.

Ao Ashi was made by Production I.G studios, who are not new to making sports anime. They are behind the production of some of our favorite anime such as Haikyuu! and Kuroko No Basket.

These shows have multiple seasons, movies, and OVA episodes, covering most part of their source mangas.

Going by the trend of the studio’s release, we can expect a new season of Ao Ashi by February 2024, around the same time as Solo Leveling Anime.

Ao Ashi Manga

Ao Ashi anime is an adaptation of the manga of the same name written by Yugo Kobayashi and Naohiko Ueno. It is ongoing with 30 volumes as of January 2023. The manga has over 15 million in circulation. It won the 65th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2020.

Ao Ashi Season 2

Season 1 covered contents up to volume 11 of the manga. Since then there have been 19 more volumes and there will be more. Viewers can remain hopeful about all the amazing scenes being animated.

Ao Ashi Anime Popularity

Ao Ashi has 24 episodes. The first half of the series featured the OP “Mushinhakusuu” by [Alexandros] and ED “Blue Diary” by Rinne. The later half had its OP “Presence” composed and performed by Superfly.

Its ED “Color Lily no Koibumi” by Kami wa Saikoro wo Furanai. The entire soundtrack was quite catchy. They were well animated, with subtle clues into future episodes.

The first season has been fairly popular while it aired. It was rated 8.27 and ranked 264 on MyAnimeList. The series was rated 8.1 on IMDb. Ao Ashi is available to watch on Crunchyroll, Disney+, and Animax Mongolia outside of Japan. It has also been dubbed in Hindi on Disney+ Hotstar.

Ao Ashi Plot: Season 1 Recap

Ehime to Tokyo

Ashito Aoi is a junior high school student in Ehime, a quiet rural town in Japan. He is well known in the town as a genius football player. During an important high school preliminary match, Tatsuya Fukuda notices his potential and approaches him.

At first, Fukuda was drawn in by mere curiosity. But he is surprised to see Ashito’s talent, which enables him to memorize every single detail in a match. He suggests Ashito take part in the qualifiers for Youth Esperion FC.

Fukuda promises to take him to the world championships if he cleared it. Ashito takes this opportunity and moves to Tokyo.

But Tokyo is a whole new world. He wasn’t the only “genius” anymore. He seems to be struggling to catch up with the other competitors, who have been practicing professional soccer from a very young age. Regardless, Aoi Ashito successfully clears the test and joins Youth Esperion FC.

Youth Esperion FC

Ashito strives to improve himself and with each passing day, he seems to be getting closer to his dreams. These are shattered, as Fukuda tells him to change his position from forward player to the defender. Fukuda has bigger plans for his “ideal team” and Ashito can only be part of it as a defender.

Ashito manages to overcome his despair and continues to work on self-improvement. His goal, for now, is to move to team A so that he can play with the best players. He achieves this goal, though it is as a defender. The ends with a glimpse of his new teammates in team A.
