Blue Lock Episode 14 Recap
Episode 14 was titled “The Geniuses and the Average Joes”. After their defeat against Rin’s team, Isagi and Nagi wait in the waiting area. Isagi is highly disappointed. He starts believing that there’s no way he can win against strong players.
Nagi snaps at him for being negative. Nagi figures out that the point of the second selection is to specifically test the individual capabilities of the players. Team-player strategies might even work against them.
Barou enters the area while they are discussing. Isagi is surprised to see that Barou has lost a match. Barou is as rude as ever and treats Nagi and Isagi with no regard. Nagi and Barou challenge each other to the next match but are interrupted by Naruhaya. He points out that they need to wait for another 24 hours till the next match.
Isagi and Nagi move to their resting area. It is a double-sharing room similar to a prison. They realize that they need to work on securing a goal without coordinated passes from players like Bachira and Reo.
After a mediocre meal at the cafeteria, Isagi goes to the practice ground. He meets Naruhaya. He tells Isagi that he does not have any special talent compared to the other players and that he’d prefer to have Nagi on the team instead of him. This angers Isagi. He decides to play his next match against Barou and Naruhaya.
Isagi practices before their match. Nagi concludes that they need to come up with a play that can help them win against Barou’s 27-meter shot range. But they can only come up with a strategy when they experience it in a real match.
The match begins. Isagi is worried. Barou charges towards the goal. Isagi tries to stop him, considering his 27-meter range. But turns out Barou evolved as well: his range is now 29 meters. Barou scores the first goal.
Isagi realizes his dribbling is useless. He is confused about how to pass Naruhaya. Nagi tells him to pass wherever. He realizes that he doesn’t need special passes. He finds the key to perfecting his one-touch. Nagi scores two consecutive goals.
Barou is furious. He makes a shot right from the kick-off. Isagi is shocked by Naruhaya’s quick comeback. He passes the ball to Barou and scores a goal.
Naruhaya taunts Isagi by saying he chose their team not just because he wants Nagi, but “knew” that it would be easy to win against Isagi. Isagi is taken aback. The episode ends as Isagi realizes he cannot win against Naruhaya as well.
